Next to the sea lies a shantytown, where pirates go to pass the time between voyages. The overall feeling of the area is mysterious and bleak, with a thick mist preventing most of the natural sunlight from entering the town. To the right of the board is a ship that is seemingly in need of some repair work, while a small wooden cabin appears on the left. Many pirates can also be seen in the background.
Dead Man's Trail is a release from Relax Gaming, who have a variety of online slots and table games within their ever-growing portfolio. They release fresh slots on a fairly consistent basis, with titles such as Money Train, Sherlock Bones, and Jurassic Party being amongst their most popular games to date!
A majority of the symbols within Dead Man's Trail follow the pirate theme. However, the standard J, Q, K, and A symbols also make an appearance. Each of the premium icons are different pirates, with a blue, green, orange, and red background for each. Players can be awarded with 5x, 5x, 15x, or 30x respectively, if five of these symbols land across the same payline.
Three different symbols can be found in Dead Man's Trail, with the first being a standard wild symbol, shown as a golden 'W'. Next up are the golden coin and ship scatter symbols, both of which are linked to different bonus modes.
A simple bonus feature included within Dead Man's Trail is focused around the aforementioned coins symbol, with each displaying a different bet multiplier. If three appear during the same spin, the values will be added together, multiplied by the total stake size, and awarded to the player.
The main bonus is named after the slot itself, known as the Dead Man's Trail feature. Should three or more scatter symbols appear, players will be taken to this bonus, which is played on a separate board. This game operates like classic board games, with a number indicating how many places the player can move.
Different spaces have various prizes, with players either landing on a fixed value, a skull and crossbones, a reset tile, or a chest. Fixed values will be awarded at the end of the round, skull and crossbones will end the feature, a reset tile will change all 'end' tiles with normal tiles, and finally, a chest will award one of the modifiers below. After a standard tile has been landed on, it will turn into an 'end' tile, which has the potential to end the bonus round.
The first modifier that can be found inside a chest is a scout, which adds a value of 100x-1,000x to a random tile. Next is one-eye, which will multiply a random square 2, 3, or 4 times, by 2x-5x on each occasion. The commander will add 3x, 4x, or 5x to all normal tiles. Collector, as the name suggests, will collect the total potential win, alongside all fixed value tiles.
Collect and command will apply the sum of the standard collector to all fixed value tiles. Reset will remove all 'end' tiles and replace them with either fixed value tiles or chests. There is a super variation of reset, which will mean that all 'end' tiles are replaced with chests for a random number of moves.
If a coin win is in the mystery chest, players will get 25x-50x added to the potential win for the round. Finally, there are persistent variations of the scout, one-eye, and collector, which means that the associated action is performed at the end of each round. This bonus can also be bought for 100x the stake size.
With a rather unique bonus, Dead Man's Trail offers something fresh to players. Of course, being a Relax Gaming slot, the visuals and animations are also superb. The game even comes with its own cutscene, which will play before the main board loads!
