It’s back to basics in our latest review. Today, we’re looking at Burning Wild, a five reel slot title that isn’t complex in any way and gives players something straightforward to get the fires flaming. This title is still brand spanking new, and therefore there are a few details that are at this stage unknown. However, there does seem to be enough for us to go about our usual business of evaluating online casino games. With a wild symbol and two scatter symbols, it means that you’ll definitely be exposed to some added value.
Greentube is a casino software studio that falls under the Novomatic company. Greentube has been going for quite some time and boasts some very accomplished online slot machines such as Sevens Staxx and Great Fortune. However, Novomatic has been using sub-studios to release a string of very traditional titles, with limited themes and minimal special effects; Red Hot 20 being one of them. There is a phoenix that acts as the primary character in Burning Wild, which most will know is a bird that spontaneously combusts when at the end of its life, only to rise from the ashes from its old body. Other than the odd fleeting moment where this animal appears on the reels, there isn’t anything else too interesting.
Burning Wild has five reels with only five paylines, making it a slot that isn’t going to confuse even the most inexperienced of players. You won’t find a massive selection of online slots games that make use of such a low quantity of paylines, however depending on the volatility of the game it sometimes doesn’t really matter how many paylines there are. It just so happens that Burning Wild has a low volatility, so coming across wins shouldn’t be too tricky. However, they won’t pack as big a punch as comes with higher volatility. The betting windowis an aspect that remains unknown, but given the simplicity of Burning Wild, we doubt the maximum bet will be too overwhelming.
It’s a common perception today that top online slot games make use of very creative symbols as high value, while low-value symbols are usually playing card royals or suits. Burning Wild is a game that takes us back to a traditional formula, as it makes use of fruits and other icons from pub fruities. There’s watermelon, plums, oranges, lemons, cherries and grapes. The remaining authentic symbols are bells and 7s.
There are three icons that you’ll want to be on the lookout for, with the first being the wild. This one only appears on reels 2, 3and 4, and will act as any symbol you need it to be to make up a winning combination. The other two icons are scatters, with one being blue and the other gold.
The wild has a little more to it than merely standing in for regular icons. When it lands, it will expand to cover the entire reel. Therefore, should you land a wild on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin then a potentilally huge win could be on the cards.
At this stage, it’s still unclear what the scatter symbols do. It’s easy to assume that a free spins feature could be present in Burning Wild, as this is what scatters usually trigger. What we do know, however, is that there is a gamble feature to double-or-nothing your take after every win.
There are a few players that might be attracted to Burning Wild. Most of these will probably be players new to the online video slots scene, as there isn’t anything here that we haven’t seen before or even a hint of really generous bonus features. This isn’t one of the best online slot games that Greentube has released, although it isn’t the worst game we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing in 2020. Perhaps try playing it in free mode to get a handle on it. You can play slots free here, so give this one a spin and see what you think.
