Book of Toro

Following on from the original Wild Toro release, players can continue their attempts to wrangle a bull in Book of Toro. This slot focuses on an Egyptian tomb, which is made evident by the array of interesting symbols, alongside the addition of a sarcophagus to the left of the board itself.  

Of course, this slot wouldn’t be complete without Toro the bull making an appearance at some point too. While seeing a bull inside of an Egyptian tomb might be a peculiar sight, it certainly makes for an interesting slot experience! 

Book of Toro was produced by ELK Studios, who, of course, produced the original Wild Toro slot online. In addition to this, titles such as Bompers, Visitors, and Miss Wildfire have all been released by them in the past. When it comes to ELK Studios slots, high-quality graphics can be expected, with unique features also being added to a variety of their games.

The first symbols within Book of Toro are based on playing cards and consist of the 10, J, Q, K, and A icons that are found in a wide variety of online slots. Next are the premium symbols, which are made up of a scarab, a bird, the Eye of Horus, and a bull handler. Should five of these symbols form a matching combination along a payline, players can be awarded 20x, 30x, 40x, and 250x their stake size, respectively.

When it comes to special symbols, there are three to discuss in the Book of Toro. The first is a mummy icon, which is followed by a book-style scatter symbol, which also acts as a wild. Both of these icons are linked to their own bonus modes, which will be covered below. Finally, we have another wild symbol, shown as Toro the bull. This symbol also has a corresponding feature.

Let’s start this section with the Toro wild bonus mode, which is triggered whenever the aforementioned symbol appears on the fifth row. Interestingly, this is the only reel that Toro can appear on. Respins are triggered during this mode, with Toro moving one space to the left after each spin. This mode will conclude when he is no longer on the board. If a mummy icon appears during this mode, Toro will charge at it, leaving wild symbols in his wake.

If two mummy symbols land on their own, respins will be triggered. This works in an identical way to many respin bonuses, with the two triggering icons locking in place before the first respin starts. If any more mummy symbols land in play, they will also become sticky, and another spin will be awarded. The previous Toro wild feature can also be activated during this bonus mode. 

The final bonus is the free spins mode, which can be activated when 3, 4, or 5 book scatter symbols appear in view. Should this happen, players will be awarded with either 10, 15, or 20 spins. Like with most book-themed games, a symbol will then be chosen to expand for the duration of the free spins mode. This bonus can also be retriggered a maximum of 3 times if three or more additional scatter symbols drop into play.

Expanding symbols will fill the entire reel if they are part of a matching combination. This will occur if three appear on different reels, as expanding symbols don't have to feature along a payline. During free spins, the other two bonus modes can also be triggered, with the potential for Toro to replace the expanding symbol if he drops onto reel 5. All of these features can also be bought directly in the game.

It's evident that punters were eagerly awaiting a sequel to the popular Wild Toro slot, with this release not disappointing. Visually, Book of Toro is rather unique. However, many would agree that the real fun lies in the various bonus modes!
