The Beauty and the Beast story is well known, thanks to several film versions, most notably the animated original, and the more recent live action remake. Exactly as you’d expect, the five reels in this game are made up of a combination of character symbols from the story, alongside six gems of varying colours and values, the enchanted mirror and the rose, which triggers the free spins bonus feature.
The wild function in Beauty and the Beast is fulfilled by the mirror symbol, and you will find it substitutes for anything in particular you’re missing to complete a payline. The only exception is the scatter symbol – the mirror can’t take the place of a scatter to trigger the bonus, but will otherwise complete or extend combinations of matching symbols to deliver a payout corresponding to the symbol’s paytable value.
There are 20 paylines in play as you spin through the game, and a wild on any one of them makes it easier to complete a winning combination. The scatter symbol is the rose, and is the only symbol that will pay out irrespective of paylines – any three of these symbols, anywhere at all on the reels, will be enough to trigger the main bonus feature.
The Beast and Belle are the two highest value symbols, paying at the same rate of up to 250x for combinations of five of a kind. The same also applies to their alter egos – the Beast as the Prince, and Belle as the Princess, which are treated as different symbols, but payout at the same rate for combinations of three or more.
From time to time, servants from the story appear on your reels to deliver additional bonus features, which can include up to an additional 4 extra wilds while these features are active. We’ll discuss them in more depth in a moment, but these features can have the effect of increasing the game’s RTP percentage from a healthy 96.30% to an even more generous 97.1%.
Bonuses & Jackpots
The rose symbol, the main scatter in Beauty and the Beast, triggers 10 free spins whenever you land a combination of three or more. Alongside your free spins, you’re asked to pick from one of the servant features. It’s possible to retrigger these free spins every time you land another three scatter symbols during your free spins round, until you’ve used each of the servant bonuses once.
The three servants can also be randomly triggered during the game, and they each introduce their own bonus feature to spice up the action.
The Butler nudges the reels, bumping positions up or down one space to deliver the highest winning combination possible for each spin it is active. The Chef syncs the three central reels, meaning they show the same symbols – a great feature for bagging lots of combinations of three or more symbols when the momentum is with you. Finally, The Maid bonus introduces up to four new wilds, which compete for reel positions with the other symbols to increase your chances of landing a winning combination.
There’s also the Golden Bet feature, which lets you pay more for each spin in return for additional features. You can buy the Boost function for 5 coins, delivering two extra features during free spins rounds. The Nudge, for 15 coins, nudges scatters onto the reels where doing so will trigger the bonus round, while Boost and Nudge for 30 coins combines the best of both worlds, activating both of these features at the same time.
