The Wild Class Online Slot Review

Can you remember moonwalking to Thriller, watching Return of the Jedi and proudly showing off your Swatch Watch? If you’re nodding along fondly, it’s time to take a trip back to 1983! Sadly we don’t have a time machine, so The Wild Class, the online slot from Play ’n’ GO, is the next best thing. In this game, you'll be following the fortunes of Chris, Mike and Jess in their final year of high school in 1983. Fairly standard stuff, right? Wrong. The fact that they're werewolves and hanging out in a haunted fairground shakes things up a bit - but before you run in the opposite direction, consider the fact that you could win up to x6666 if you collect the top prize.

Teen Wolf didn't come out until a few years later, so you can consider The Wild Class to be laying the groundwork for the cult classic. But the hairy lupines in this slot are friendly, making this a far less terrifying game than it initially sounds. That’s not always the case with werewolf-themed slots; the beasts in Curse of the Werewolf from Inspired Gaming are much less welcoming!

You’ll be playing on a grid of 5x3 with 20 fixed paylines running from left to right. Betting ranges from a modest 0.20 right up to 100.00, giving a pretty decent range for low and high rollers alike. The top prize is a demonic-sounding x6666, and there's a high volatility, so you might need to hang out in the spooky fairground for a while before payouts start to roll in.

Feature Symbols

The intro screen and music set the atmosphere perfectly, with three wholesome students transforming into a trio of snarling wolves. With a dark and brooding sky and a deserted fairground in the background, it's a tense start for all players.

On the board, the low pays are made up of playing card symbols 10-A, while the premium symbols are Jess, Mike and Chris in their human form. But their werewolf selves also appear on the reels, and they're friendlier than you might expect, acting as wilds - of course!! - to make more matches. Both the werewolf wilds and the premium symbols are stacked, so it's possible to cover a full reel at once.

A regular wild also appears as a single symbol, a film cover bearing the name Werewolf Academy!

Bonuses and Jackpots

On the top right-hand side of the reels, you'll notice a number hanging in the air. This is the current multiplier that will apply to any win. It will increase by +1 every time either Jess, Mike or Chris appear in full, covering the whole reel. This will reset back to zero after a win.

There are also wolf shields that can appear on the reels; these are the scatter, and if you land three or more at once, you'll unlock the Blood Moon Spins round. You'll receive seven free spins but depending on how many scatters you land; you'll also receive between one and three werewolf wilds. Three scatters leads to Fury with just a single Chris turning into a werewolf. Four scatters known as Carnage, where you'll have two hairy versions of Mike, and five scatters is Rampage which delivers three of werewolf Jess.

If there are any win multipliers currently available on the base game, these will carry over into Blood Moon Spins but with the added advantage of not resetting after a win. You can collect extra spins by landing more scatters; each scatter will award you one extra spin up to a maximum of 30.
