Genie Nights

Genie Nights is an Arabian themed slot by developer Red Tiger Gaming. Basically, it's a revamp of one of their earlier titles, "Honolulu Nights". 

And apart from a different setting, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The background still features sand, and lots of it this time because the ocean is gone. But now, there is a line of camels with riders wandering across it. 

The game grid is 3x3, and the base game has five fixed paylines to land three-of-a-kind combinations on for a win. The RTP is not great at 95.7%, and volatility is rated as high. The maximum amount you can win is 975x your stake, which is also nothing to write home about.

The low paying symbols are arabesque type cards from 10 to Ace. These pay 0.2 to 1.4x the bet. There are four treasure symbols that pay higher at 4 to 20x the bet.  

Once you get into the Magic Wish Bonus, you’ll be spinning the Genies from the title. And if you’re thinking of a big, blue, slightly camp character as in Disney’s Aladdin, rest assured that that is not the case. 

These genies are sultry, doe-eyed Arabian beauties gazing seductively at you from behind their translucent veils. 

Genie Nights doesn't have any Wild symbols. Instead, there are a series of interconnected features that award free spins and increased chances of winning. These are as follows;

●     Respin - Land three Respins symbols on a payline, and you'll get 0.2x the bet as well as triggering a respin. You can trigger up to four repins in a row. And each consecutive respin will give you better chances of landing another respin, or a Wish Bonus. If you manage to get to the fourth respin, you’ll only see Respin, Wish or Great Wish symbols on the reels.

●     Magic Lamp Bonus - This works in the base game only. Land a 3x3 magic lamp symbol, and you get the Magic Lamp Bonus. This could be a random payout of 5x to 50x your stake. Or you could jump into one of the three Wish Bonuses

●     Wish - Three wish symbols on a pay line will get you a Wish bonus. Or players can be brought here through the Magic Lamp Bonus. The Wish bonus awards eight free spins, and the last will feature Wish or Great Wish symbols for a repeat or to advance to the next level of the game.

●     Great Wish - 3 Great Wish symbols on a line, or the Magic Lamp Bonus trigger the Great Wish round. Again this features eight free spins, and the chance to win a repeat on the last spin.

●     Mega Wish - The Mega Wish Bonus is awarded randomly from the Magic Lamp Bonus or one of the other Wish Bonus rounds. During it, the other symbols are replaced by 1x3 sized female Genie symbols. These scantily-clad temptresses are worth 2x, 4x, or 6x the bet. This round continues as long as you keep winning. A losing spin will send you back to the previous mode, where you'll get the chance to go all over again.

●     Nudge - Finally, there is a nudge feature that might kick in if the last spin during a Wish Bonus doesn’t produce a win.

The payouts on Genie Nights aren't huge, with the Magic Bonus round offering the highest at 50x your stake. And even with all the possible bonuses, you can get, the max win is still only a very disappointing 975 times your bet.

With Genie Nights, one gets the impression Red Tiger didn’t make much of an effort. The graphics are below this developer's usual standard. And, apart from renaming the bonus rounds, nothing has changed from the game it is based on, Honolulu Nights. 

Overall, this looks like a game that was quickly thrown together. It feels as if Red Tiger were more concerned with sticking to some sort of release schedule than creating a new slot. 

But if you are nostalgic for its predecessor, which is apparently no longer available, you can take it for a spin.
