King’s Honour slot is a brand new spin on traditional Arthurian legend themed online slots. Set against a mysterious, foggy fantasy landscape you’ll stacking up reels full of golden crowns, druid circles, battleaxes and swords firmly planted into stone. In fact you’re going to seeing a lot of all of these symbols because of how many any in play at any one time…There’s actually two separate sets of reels in play on each spin!
On the left of the screen you’ll see a typical looking 5 reel set up, 4 symbols in height, the “Standard Reels”—but on the right hand side of the screen you’ll find another 5 reels, each one towering 12 symbols high! They are the game’s aptly named “Colossal Reels”. All ten reels are spun simultaneously on every spin and hold a combined total of 100 pay lines winding a complicated network from left to right.
In all honesty, at first glance this game appears more than a little dated, at least graphically; you won’t find any flashy animated symbols bursting to life on a winning line and the actually illustrations seem to feel a little flat—certainly they lack some of vibrance and sheen we’ve come to expect from modern slots. All that said, this game’s unique mechanics and range of features and bonuses more than makes up for any cosmetic shortfalls it may suffer.
Interestingly King’s Honour actually features 3 different theoretical rates of RTP (return to player) depending on the level of your bets. We’ve listed the highest (97.75%) above, though this is only actually the case when using the game’s most “Big Bet” mode that activates additional features on the reels. During standard play you can expect a 94% RTP on bets below £2 and 96% on bets a above this. Minimum bets start at £0.10 and can stretch all the way up to a maximum of £300 a spin. Big Bets are always either £20 or £30 for a set of 5 enhanced opportunity spins.
As mentioned above, if you dip blew the less than glossy veneer of King’s Honour you’ll a swathe of bonus features to mix up and multiply your fortunes in play. So what are the symbols you’ll looking out for?
As with most other slots, wilds match up with all adjacent standard symbols massively increasing your chances of a win. In King’s Honour wilds frequently appear across its 10 reels and often in stacks on top of each other. Also if you land four stacked wilds in any Standard game reel 1-5, it will automatically carry across to the matching numbered Colossal Reel and stretch to fill it with 12 wild symbols!
These symbols can appear in the standard reels 1,3 or 5—or in any of the colossal reels. Reveal at least 3 of them to trigger the Reel of Honour feature which in turn you spin to either win a number of Free Spins or a pot multiplier for your winnings from the initial game spin.
During a Free Spins round Colossal Reel Bonus symbols can appear on the left hand standard game reels which will allow you to pick a random shield bonus that will apply an advantageous effect to the colossal reels. These include the “Wild Arrows Bonus” which awards between 10 and 40 extra wilds to the colossal reels, the “Wild Reels Bonus” which turns up to 4 of the colossal reels completely wild, an “Extra Free Spins Bonus” which as the name suggest adds another 3 – 25 Free Spins, and the “Black Knight” and “White Knight” bonuses which both transform lower value symbols into higher value ones. There’s also a “Colossal Wins Multiplier Bonus” and a “Pot Multiplier Bonus” which are fairly self-explanatory.
During gameplay you can also come across additional randomly triggered features that don’t rely on symbols to activate. The “King’s Charge” feature for example can take place after any spin that hasn’t resulted in a win—it selects one visible symbol on the reels and adds more of them across adjacent tiles to create a new winning line.
Similarly the “Siege Spin” feature can trigger randomly in two situations. In the first if only two Sword In The Stone bonuses appear on the reels the Siege Spin can activate to respin one reel, create a set of 3 bonuses and launch the Reel of Honour. A Siege Spin can also trigger when you’ve revealed a stack of 4 wilds on the standard reels, on top of any winnings from that initial spin, the Siege Spin will generate an extra spin but with those wilds still locked in place for second bite at the cherry!
The fantasy realm of King Arthur is a nice lesser used choice of theme for a slot game and while King’s Honour may not knock your socks off with flashy graphics its array of bonus features certainly helps it stand out from the crowd. The Big Bet feature in particular boosts this games RTP well above the average.
